In 2000, Sandy’s own illness spurred her interest in healing, around the same time she began her massage training at the South Bay Massage College in Manhattan Beach, CA. She then studied structural integration with Garnet Dupois at the Massage School of Santa Monica. Sandy was introduced to Chinese medicine, completed workshops in trigger point therapy and targeted pain management at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe, AZ. Then at two of San Francisco’s top spas, Therapeia and Dimitra’s Skin Care, she was trained in pregnancy and hot stone massage as well as spa treatments (body scrubs, wraps, and various other body treatments). Locally, Sandy studied with Art Rigs, certified advanced Rolfer, in myofascial release and Eric Rubin in Cranial Sacral Therapy. Sandy continues her pursuit in learning with each client.
Sandy has a special interest in Structural Integration massage. Structural Integration is a scientifically validated body therapy. Unlike massage, Structural Integration focuses not on the muscles but on their protective layer, called fascia (also known as connective tissue).
Structural Integration aligns and balances the body by lengthening and re positioning the fascia. As fascia is lengthened it allows the muscles to move more efficiently.
